Summer camps at Bellwether for children ages 3 to 12:    APPLICATION + FAQS

For Children Ages 3-7:

Children will explore through both play and guided experiences in our dynamic and creative two-week camp sessions:

Bellwether Summer! provides unique learning experiences for children in a comforting and inviting setting.  The staff at Bellwether Summer! work to create valuable learning opportunities that foster creativity and exploration while allowing for structure and predictability.  The camps include such activities as: play-based learning experiences indoors and out, art projects, investigations, new friends and LOTS of fun. 

Stories Come Alive (June 16-20) How many ideas can a good book inspire? Come join us in discovering the answer through art projects, games, songs, and activities based on both classic and moderm children's literature. 

Sensory Overload (June 23-27) Can't resist jumping in the puddle? Couldn't help but make mud pies? You've just got to know what that feels like? Well, this camp is especially designed for you. Roll up your sleeves and don your smock for some exciting and hands-on learning through sensory play. If it oozes and goozes and squishes and drips, then it is sure to be a part of this messy camp!  

Celebrate Summer! (June 30-July 2) MINI CAMP!! In this three-day mini-camp preceding the 4th of July, we will celebrate all things summer! Water play, ice cream, sunshine, family traditions, and relaxation will be just a few of the things we will explore and enjoy.

Kitchen Creations (July 7-11) Send your little bakers this way for some hands-on fun in the kitchen! Along with learning the basics of cooking, children will be introduced to other topics including: safety in the kitchen, the importance of eating well, choosing high-quality ingredients and being mindful in the selection and preparation of the food we share. Campers will find this camp to be deliciously reqarding.  

Nature & Nurture (July 14-18) Pack you bags! Rain or shine, Bellwether campers are heading outside! An outdoor environment can offer rich learning experiences not found indoors and is full of wonderful things for children to experiment, discover, and explore. During this outdoor camp, children will do much more than run, climb, and play. They will notice the weather, insects, plants, and everything going on around them. Curiosity will be stimulated as campers gain awareness and reach greater levels of creativity and understanding about their community and their world. Join us in celebrating Bellwether's beautiful outdoor play space and the convenient and readily available source of learning materials and sensory experiences that nature provides for us.

A Week Around the World (July 21-25)  Be a global citizen! Grab your passports and let's go! We will discover the wonders and magic of our world through art projects, cooking activities, songs, games, and books that transport us to countries and unique locations around the world

Vermont: Our Home (July 28-August 1)  This week, campers will develop their sense of place and home. What's so special about Vermont? The food, the landscape, the people, the history, the animals!

Children will explore exciting art & science themes in depth in these creative one-week camp sessions:
 
Children will explore exciting themes in depth through hands-on art activities, science experiments and outdoor games. Using a child-centered curriculum, we encourage critical thinking, problem solving and team building with an emphasis on safety and fun. All camps are one-week. 
 
Out of This World (June 16-20) 3....2....1.... BLAST OFF! Space. The final frontier. Have you ever wanted to discover something from our galazy besides planet Earth? Join us as we explore the amazing infiniteness that lies beyond our world. 
 
Bellwether Bakers (June 23-27) Send your budding bakers this way for some hands-on fun in the kitchen! Along with learning the basics of cooking, children will be introduced to other topics including: safety in the kitchen, the importance of eating well, choosing high-quality ingredients and being mindful in the selection and preparation of the food we share. Campers will find this camp to be deliciously rewarding.

Invention Convention (July 7-11) You can make just about anything if you put your mind to it, and this camp will teach the basics of planning, collaborating, and executing. We will use found materials to make a bunch of items from instruments to machines. 
 
Animals in Our Backyard (July 14-18) Who made that footprint? Grab a pair of binoculars and check out the amazing animals that live in our own backyards here in Vermont. We will talk about signs of animals, footprints, habitats, and much more... and maybe even spot some animals in Bellwether's backyard wetlands!
 
Act It Out (July 21-25) Lights. Camera. ACTION! The focus of this week will be interpreting stories - whether they are our own tales or ones we read. We will learn about setting, character, and plot as well as try our hands at drama, comedy, and... tragedy. Are you ready for your close-up?
 

Wild and Wacky Art (July 28-August 1) Bring your wildest visions to creation as we use unusual materials to creat all sorts of mixed-media projects! Create your own paint color, paint with your feet, or make an edible sculpture... the sky is the limit.
